NRC Authorizes Fuel Load and Operation for AP1000® Plant at Vogtle Unit 3

Cranberry Township, PA – August 4, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company congratulates Georgia Power, Southern Nuclear, and other project partners on a major milestone in the completion of the Plant Vogtle Unit 3 AP1000® plant near Waynesboro, GA. On Wednesday, August 3, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) provided authorization via a 103(g) finding to Southern Nuclear to load fuel and begin operation. The finding signifies that the new unit has been constructed and will be operated in conformance with the Combined License and NRC regulations.

Westinghouse and EDF Partner for EnCore®

Paris, France, July 26, 2022 –Westinghouse Electric Company announced a partnership with EDF to explore the functionalities of Westinghouse’s EnCore® enhanced Accident Tolerant Fuel (ATF) technology. Westinghouse will study its EnCore fuel in an EDF reactor for potential deployment across the EDF nuclear fleet after 2030.

Westinghouse Brings Global Decommissioning Expertise to Norway

Cranberry Township, PA, July, 18, 2022 –Westinghouse Electric Company announced today a major engineering contract with Norwegian Nuclear Decommissioning (NND) to plan the decommissioning of the country’s two nuclear research reactors located in Halden and Kjeller. The three-year agreement includes options up to six years and is valued up to $100 million (NOK 1 billion).

Feasibility Study Contract Signed for Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant

Cranberry Township, PA, July, 11, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced a new contract with Energoatom, Ukraine’s national nuclear power company. In the agreement, Westinghouse will provide AP1000® plant technical information in support of Energoatom’s feasibility study update for the construction of two AP1000 reactors at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Ukraine.
