Angel Tree Project
New Stanton, Pennsylvania, United States
Our New Stanton employees have shared Christmas joy with nearly 1,000 young people throughout the last 16 years.
For the past 16 years, the employees at the New Stanton site have participated in an angel tree project in support of students in need from nearby Nicely and Metzgar Elementary schools in the Greensburg Salem School District. This year, 50 employees purchased clothing and toys, helping to grant the wishes of 60 angels from our community.
Over the past 16 years, approximately 900 young people have had a brighter Christmas thanks to the Westinghouse New Stanton family. Often, the gifts that the children receive from Westinghouse are the only gifts under their tree.

Warrendale, Pennsylvania, United States

The bikes built by employees will go to local children and teens in-need this holiday season.
“We are so grateful to each and every one of you for providing this special gift for the youth in our care,” said Amy Smith, director of development, MHY Family Services, in an email to volunteers.
“Please know that for many of our youth, this will be the best gift they will receive this year. It will not only serve for fun, but also as a way to travel to school, a part-time job, even to see friends and family.”

Lucia Celebrations
Västerås, Sweden
The Lucia celebrations on December 13 represent are a longstanding and prominent cultural tradition in Sweden. A Lucia, chosen often by drawing, is adorned with candles – often battery powered – and accompanied by handmaidens and star boys, clad in white gowns, to sing traditional songs.
Students from a local music school visited local companies to perform the Lucia procession.
Its origins date back to ancient times, though the first recorded celebration with the Lucia in white dates back to the 18th century. Lucia, a mythical figure, is believed to bring light during the dark winters. Growing up, all Swedes learn the standard Lucia song – though not all can sing it in tune! Each year, Westinghouse employees in Sweden enjoy a visit from Lucia and her parade, as portrayed by local students.

Toy Drive for Madison’s Christmas Wish List
Shoreview, Minnesota, United States
For the second year in a row, employees at Westinghouse Shoreview demonstrated how big their hearts were by donating more than 600 unwrapped toys to Madison’s Christmas Wish List.
Westinghouse Shoreview employees celebrate the life of Madison by bringing joy to other pediatric oncology patients like her.
Madison was a 9-year-old oncology patient at St. Paul Children’s Hospital who suffered from brain cancer. Madison cared so deeply for the children suffering through treatment like her that she started this drive to have a special gift for each child and their sibling when they came in for treatment or exams. Sadly, Madison lost her battle with cancer in 2007, but with the help of our family at the Shoreview site and other Minnesotans, her wish to help others lives on!
