Agreement Marks First Step in Private Delivery of Advanced, Proven SMR Technology to the UK

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Feb. 8, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has signed an agreement with Community Nuclear Power, Ltd. (CNP) that puts it on track to deploy the U.K.’s first privately-financed small modular reactor fleet, with the Westinghouse AP300™ SMR. It is a significant step in making this new energy sector a reality with commercial operation expected by the early 2030s.

Event Follows Recent Announcement on AP300 SMR New Build Plan

Lancashire, ENGLAND, Feb. 9, 2024 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that representatives for more than 130 vendors attended its U.K. Supplier Symposium this week. The two-day event in Lancashire provided a forum to engage with current and potential suppliers for Westinghouse’s numerous potential nuclear new build projects in the United Kingdom.

Licensing Process to Support Multiple SMR Deployments in the United Kingdom

Cranberry Township, PA – Feb. 13, 2024 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today it has formally submitted an application to the U.K. Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) for approval to enter the General Design Assessment (GDA) of the AP300™ Small Modular Reactor (SMR). This is the first step in the formal licensing process within the U.K.

Cranberry Township, PA – June 3, 2022 - Westinghouse Electric Company and Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear utility of Ukraine, have signed expanded agreements for Westinghouse to supply all nuclear fuel for the Energoatom operating fleet in Ukraine and increase the number of AP1000® plants Energoatom intends to build from five to nine units. The two companies also affirmed their intention to establish a Westinghouse Engineering Center in Ukraine to support the planned AP1000 reactor projects, as well as Energoatom’s operating fleet and future decommissioning program.
