Lancashire, England, July 27, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that the U.K. Government’s Nuclear Fuel Fund has awarded three grants to upgrade and expand the Springfields Fuel Fabrication Facility to support the United Kingdom’s next-generation nuclear reactors.
Västerås, Sweden -- July 6, 2023 – A consortium led by Westinghouse was selected by the European Union (EU) to develop and deliver a secure, fully European nuclear fuel supply to Russian-designed pressurized water reactors (VVER). Diversifying the sources of VVER fuel will be fully achieved by strengthening European capabilities in design, manufacturing, and supply while accelerating the capacity-building process.
Springfields, United Kingdom – June 28, 2023 --Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that it has signed an agreement with EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Limited (NGL) to supply fuel to Advanced Gas Cooled Reactors (AGR) from its Springfields fuel fabrication facility.
Sofia, Bulgaria – Dec. 22, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company and Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) have signed a 10-year contract to fabricate and deliver VVER-1000 nuclear fuel for Unit 5. This new agreement guarantees reliable supply of the only fully Western option for VVER nuclear fuel fabrication.
