On April 22, CFFF engineers performing planned inspections found about 20 fingertip-sized fuel pellets in a drainpipe near a sintering furnace on-site. The discovery was reported to plant management, who followed standard protocol and informed the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. There was no impact to our employees, the public or the environment.
This event notification (EN 58253) was retracted on April 30 after calculations determined a safety issue was not credible.
