Cranberry Township, PA, September 27, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company has signed a service agreement with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission to bring its eVinci™ microreactor closer to commercialization. The agreement initiates a Vendor Design Review (VDR) which is a pre-licensing technical assessment of the eVinci microreactor design. Westinghouse will execute both Phases 1 and 2 of the VDR as a combined program, signaling the eVinci microreactor’s design and technology maturity.

Company's Micro Reactor Receives Government of Canada Funding, Supports Country's Aggressive Climate Goals

Burlington, Ontario, Canada, March 17, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Canada announced today, along with the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, an investment of C$27.2 million from the Government of Canada’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF). This investment will support funding for the eVinci™ micro reactor which will bring carbon-free, transportable, safe, and scalable energy anywhere Canada requires reliable, clean energy.

Westinghouse Canada held a ribbon cutting event to commemorate the opening of a new office in Bruce County today. The office will have 20 full-time employees and is strategically located to manage its increasing work at Bruce Power.

Study Concludes eVinci™ Micro Reactors A Real Solution For Clean Energy in Canada

In partnership with Bruce Power, Westinghouse recently completed a feasibility study with conclusive results that the eVinciTM micro reactor can provide necessary, clean and cost-competitive energy to decentralized, off-grid markets in Canada. The report focuses on key market opportunities, including remote communities and industrial mines. It also emphasizes the benefits the technology can provide in support of the government policy to meet decarbonization goals in Canada.
