Last year, our Springfields Apprentice Training Centre celebrated its 70th anniversary, having trained more than 30% of the current Springfields workforce, and more than 2,000 apprentices since 1950.

Westinghouse Program Awarded £10m From UK Government Advanced Modular Reactor Project

Springfields, Lancashire – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced their Lead-cooled Fast Reactor (LFR) program has successfully progressed to Phase 2 of the UK Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s (BEIS) Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) Feasibility and Development project, receiving £10m ($12.5m) in funding from the BEIS Energy Innovation Portfolio. The funding will help to advance nuclear technology through innovation in order to deliver reliable, clean energy for future generations.

Westinghouse Announces Plan to Establish the Clean Energy Technology Park in the U.K.

Springfields, Lancashire, United Kingdom – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced the plan to establish the Clean Energy Technology Park at the Springfields nuclear licensed site in Lancashire. The Springfields site has been manufacturing nuclear fuel for more than 75 years, and currently provides the fuel for more than 30% of the UK’s low carbon electricity.
