You’ve trusted Westinghouse technology, engineering and services for your pressurized water reactors for decades, but did you know that Westinghouse and Toshiba have a combined 40 years of boiling water reactor (BWR) innovation and success? With 139 total nuclear operating units, Toshiba and Westinghouse represent the world’s largest nuclear operations experience base, and we are the origional equipment manufacturer (OEM) for 28 BWR plants globally.

While some OEMs are investing in different energy sources, Westinghouse is committed to nuclear energy and is investing specifically in BWR technology. Collectively, Westinghouse and Toshiba have 1,400 dedicated personnel worldwide who focus on BWR innovations, solving engineering challenges and servicing BWR reactors.

Our commitment to the BWR industry is evident in our world-class, $21 million nuclear training facility in Chattanooga, Tenn., USA where we train our employees, customers and other industry stakeholders. Here, crews train to perform BWR nuclear steam supply system services in modifications, refueling, under-vessel inspection, repairs and other specialty services. The facility boasts a full-scale, floodable BWR cavity with vessel, internals, spent fuel pool, refueling bridge, two 33-ton cranes, under-vessel mock-up and 65,000 square feet of shop space.
