NEWINGTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE, Oct. 6, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has installed the largest state-of-the-art precision water jet machining center in the region at its Nuclear Components Manufacturing (NCM) facility in Newington, N.H. The precision water jet machining center comes as part of investments in factory upgrades that enable rapid, cost-competitive delivery of manufactured components to its customers.

“The addition of water jet machining capacity at NCM is an important differentiator,” said Ken Altemus, vice president, Global Components and Manufacturing for Westinghouse Electric Company.  “This enables us to vertically integrate our plate processing and complete work in significantly reduced durations, resulting in savings that we can pass along to customers.”

The machine is able to hold tight tolerances and can cut complex features and angles in virtually any material up to eight inches thick in a fraction of the time required by traditional cutting and machining methods.  This advancement in capabilities expands water jet services to the global market while supporting manufacturing in the northeastern United States.
