A group from the “Friends of Congaree Swamp” visited the grounds of the Denley Cemetery on the Westinghouse Columbia Site property. The Denley Cemetery is a historically black cemetery located on a bluff overlooking Upper Sunset Lake. Information about the cemetery is documented in a Cultural Resources Report the site commissioned in 2021/2022. The group was very appreciative for the opportunity to visit the cemetery, and several of the members shared what they knew of its history. Westinghouse maintains the cemetery as part of its commitment to preserving history and honoring the individuals buried there.
