Companies Mark European First to Produce Cobalt-60 Radioisotope in EDF Reactors
Paris, December 1, 2021 – At the World Nuclear Exhibition today, Westinghouse Electric Company and EDF signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to produce Cobalt-60 radioisotope in select Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) owned and operated by EDF in France.

Cranberry Township, PA, October 21, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric Company has signed an instrumentation and control (I&C) modernization contract with Exelon Generation for its boiling water reactor (BWR) units at the Limerick Generating Station. The implementation of the contract will mark the first fully digitalized safety system in a U.S. BWR plant.

Madrid, Spain, October 4, 2021 –Westinghouse Electric Company has signed a definitive agreement with Iberdrola and Naturgy to acquire 50% of Tecnatom. This acquisition advances the company’s strategy to expand its technical nuclear outage, engineering, and digital services capabilities worldwide. Once completed, Westinghouse will co-own and co-manage Tecnatom with Endesa through a joint venture.
Kyiv, Ukraine, September 22, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric Company and NT-Engineering LLC Company announced today a signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to implement maintenance optimization and system repair projects for water-water energetic reactors (VVER), a milestone aiming at increasing the safety levels and performance of these reactors in Ukraine.
Prague, Czech Republic, September 14, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric and the ČEZ Company signed a landmark nine-year project agreement to upgrade the instrumentation and control (I&C) systems at the Temelin nuclear power plant (NPP). This agreement represents a major milestone for the clean and reliable energy supply in the Czech Republic and the modernization of its nuclear plant infrastructure.
Cranberry Township, PA, September 9, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that Pamela Cowan has been appointed president of Americas operating plant services unit (AOPS). Ms. Cowan has been in the commercial nuclear industry for over 30 years, most recently as senior vice president of Holtec International and Chief Operating Officer of Holtec Decommissioning International. She takes over the business on September 21, following the retirement of the current president, David Howell.
