Westinghouse Advances Energy Security in Czech Republic

Prague, Czech Republic, June 28, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company signed an agreement with ČEZ to supply fuel assemblies at the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). Westinghouse will deliver fuel assemblies beginning in 2024 to fully replace the current supplier with an anticipated term of 15 years. Since April 2019, six Westinghouse lead fuel assemblies have been in operation in Temelín Unit 1.

Västerås, Sweden – June 13, 2022 – Westinghouse installed its StrongHold® AM 3D-printed nuclear fuel debris filters in two Nordic Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) units – Olkiluoto 2 in Finland, and Oskarshamn 3 in Sweden – to further improve the plants’ operational reliability.

Cranberry Township, PA – June 3, 2022 - Westinghouse Electric Company and Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear utility of Ukraine, have signed expanded agreements for Westinghouse to supply all nuclear fuel for the Energoatom operating fleet in Ukraine and increase the number of AP1000® plants Energoatom intends to build from five to nine units. The two companies also affirmed their intention to establish a Westinghouse Engineering Center in Ukraine to support the planned AP1000 reactor projects, as well as Energoatom’s operating fleet and future decommissioning program.
