Westinghouse Wins Fuel Contract Extension for American Electric Power’s D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant

Cranberry Township, PA, March 18, 2020 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced that it has signed a nuclear fuel and related services contract extension with American Electric Power (AEP) for its two pressurized water reactor units at the D.C. Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman, Michigan.

Westinghouse eVinci Micro Reactor Awarded U.S. Department of Defense Funding for Mobile Reactor Design

Cranberry Township, PA – March 9, 2020 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that its eVinci™ micro reactor was awarded funding from the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Project Pele, a mobile nuclear reactor prototyping program. The funding will be used to finalize the design for a prototype of Westinghouse’s defense-eVinci (DeVinci™) mobile nuclear power plant (MNPP).

Westinghouse Signs Long-term Contract With TVO to Support Long Term Operation of BWR Reactors

HELSINKI, FINLAND, March 9, 2020 – Today, Westinghouse Electric Company signed a long-term contract with the Finnish nuclear power company Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) for deliveries of control rods to their two boiling water reactors (BWRs), Olkiluoto 1 and 2, through 2038. TVO will utilize Westinghouse’s optimized CR 99+ design to extend the operational life of the control rods.

Westinghouse Announces Plan to Establish the Clean Energy Technology Park in the U.K.

Springfields, Lancashire, United Kingdom - February 28, 2020 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced the plan to establish the Clean Energy Technology Park at the Springfields nuclear licensed site in Lancashire. The Springfields site has been manufacturing nuclear fuel for more than 75 years, and currently provides the fuel for more than 30% of the UK’s low carbon electricity.
