Westinghouse Announces Plan to Establish the Clean Energy Technology Park in the U.K.

Springfields, Lancashire, United Kingdom - February 28, 2020 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced the plan to establish the Clean Energy Technology Park at the Springfields nuclear licensed site in Lancashire. The Springfields site has been manufacturing nuclear fuel for more than 75 years, and currently provides the fuel for more than 30% of the UK’s low carbon electricity.

Westinghouse Partners With Nordion to Increase Future Supply of Life-saving Cobalt-60

Ottawa, ON (Canada), February 26, 2020 – Westinghouse Electric Company and Nordion (Canada) Inc., a Sotera Health Company, today announced they have signed a Letter of Intent to develop innovative isotope production technology that will allow Cobalt-60 to be produced in Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs). Through this collaboration, Westinghouse and Nordion will strengthen the supply of Cobalt-60, which plays a critical role in the safety of medical devices and reduces pathogens in food and other products. Cobalt-60 also plays a vital role in the treatment of certain brain cancers.

Westinghouse Completes First-of-a-Kind Advanced Rod Control Hybrid Installment at U.S. Utility Lead Unit

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa., Feb. 20, 2020 - Westinghouse Electric Company recently completed the first successful U.S. installment and plant startup of its new digital control system solution, the Advanced Rod Control Hybrid (ARCH) as part of its 2019 fall outage campaign. ARCH is designed to provide utilities with a simplified path forward to plant modernization and to support long term operations with reduced maintenance, improved reliability and operability. A second ARCH installation is slated for the 2020 spring outage campaign.

Westinghouse Expands Nuclear Services & Capabilities With Acquisition of Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear Systems and Services

Cranberry Township, PA, January 31, 2020 – Today, Westinghouse Electric Company will complete the acquisition of Rolls-Royce’s Civil Nuclear Systems and Services business in North America and in select sites in Europe. The acquisition represents a strategic investment in expanding the company’s nuclear products and services offerings.
