Westinghouse Wins Fuel Contract Extension for Xcel Energy’s Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant

Cranberry Township, Pa. – May 2, 2018 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has signed a nuclear fuel and related services contract extension with Xcel Energy for its two pressurized water reactor units at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant in Red Wing, Minnesota.

Westinghouse AP1000 Plant to Load Fuel

SANMEN, CHINA, April 25, 2018 – Westinghouse Electric Company, China State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) and CNNC Sanmen Nuclear Power Company Limited (SMNPC) announced today that the world’s first unit of AP1000 nuclear power plant located in Sanmen, Zhejiang Province, China, has received the fuel load permit from China’s National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) and has commenced initial fuel loading.

Westinghouse Completes First Major Decommissioning Work at a Nordic Commercial Nuclear Reactor

PITTSBURGH, March 16, 2018 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that it has completed a major decommissioning project at the former Barsebäck nuclear power plant in Skåne, Sweden.

Barsebäck Unit 2 ceased operation in 2005 and decommissioning work began in August 2016. Westinghouse’s scope of work included the underwater segmentation and packaging of the reactor vessel internals, as well as the upfront engineering studies and equipment manufacturing and qualification.
