Work is commencing per the agreement to assess Bulgarian industry and the existing infrastructure at the Kozloduy site for its potential to support the construction of an AP1000 reactor.
Long-Term Containment Cooling Systems Are a Key Safety Enhancement for Severe Accident Management
Rivne, Ukraine, June 13, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today it has signed a contract with Energoatom to design, manufacture and deliver Long-Term Containment Cooling Systems as part of the modernization of Rivne Nuclear Power Plant Units 1 and 2 in northern Ukraine. The cooling systems will greatly improve safety margins at the site by ensuring stable heat removal and effective containment depressurization in the case of an accident.
Deployment of Multiple Advanced Reactors Would Achieve Clean Energy Goals
Helsinki, Finland, June 7, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company and Finland’s Fortum today announced the signing of Memoranda of Understanding to study the possibilities for the development and deployment of AP1000® and AP300™ reactor projects in Finland and Sweden. The MOUs establish a framework of collaboration for detailed technical and commercial discussions and explore cooperation on the next steps to implement Westinghouse reactor technologies in both countries.
