Westinghouse Completes First Major Decommissioning Work at a Nordic Commercial Nuclear Reactor

PITTSBURGH, March 16, 2018 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that it has completed a major decommissioning project at the former Barsebäck nuclear power plant in Skåne, Sweden.

Barsebäck Unit 2 ceased operation in 2005 and decommissioning work began in August 2016. Westinghouse’s scope of work included the underwater segmentation and packaging of the reactor vessel internals, as well as the upfront engineering studies and equipment manufacturing and qualification.

Westinghouse-led Consortium Prepared to Supply Fuel to VVER-440 Reactors in Europe

Westinghouse Wins 10-year Outage Services Contract With Xcel Energy

Cranberry Township, Pa. – Feb. 12, 2018 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced it has been awarded a 10-year integrated outage services contract by Xcel Energy for its fleet of nuclear plants in Minnesota – two pressurized water reactor units at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant in Red Wing, Minnesota and a single-unit boiling water reactor at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant in Monticello, Minnesota.

Westinghouse to Continue Nuclear Fuel Delivery to Ukraine Through 2025

BRUSSELS, January 29, 2018 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has signed a nuclear fuel contract extension with Ukraine’s State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generation Company (SE NNEGC) Energoatom. The contract includes nuclear fuel deliveries to seven of Ukraine’s 15 nuclear power reactors between 2021 and 2025, expanding and extending the existing contract for six reactors that was set to expire in 2020.
