Cranberry Township, Pa. – July 31, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that it has reached a critical milestone in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process by submitting its five-year business plan to the company’s debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing lenders and the unsecured creditors committee on July 27.

Westinghouse’s Encore Fuel Lead Test Rods to Be Inserted in Exelon Generation’s Byron Unit 2

Cranberry Township, Pa. - July 28, 2017 – Westinghouse today announced that it will load fuel assemblies containing lead test rods of its accident tolerant fuel solution, EnCore™ Fuel, in Exelon Generation’s Byron Unit 2 in spring of 2019. The fuel assemblies will contain chromium-coated zirconium fuel rods loaded with uranium silicide pellets, which set EnCore Fuel apart from other accident-tolerant fuel solutions because of the pellets’ higher density and higher thermal conductivity.

Madison, Pa., July 5, 2017 – Westinghouse announced today it has successfully used its Zephyr® Advanced Acquisition System to examine 100 percent of the tubes in a steam generator from a single plenum – a first in the nuclear industry. The Zephyr system uses revolutionary probe delivery to more rapidly perform high-quality eddy current examinations as part of a plant’s regular steam generator maintenance program.
