Warsaw, Poland – Sept. 21, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company and Bechtel today announced the signing of a formal agreement to partner on the design and construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. This agreement marks another important milestone on the journey to commercial operation for Poland’s first AP1000® nuclear reactor in 2033.
Cranberry Township, PA, Sept. 12, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company and Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear utility of Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the development and deployment of the AP300™ Small Modular Reactor (SMR). The agreement establishes a joint working group to collaborate on areas such as contracting, licensing and the local supply chain.
Västerås, SWEDEN – September 12, 2023 –Westinghouse Electric Company announced that it delivered its first reload batch of VVER-440 fuel assemblies to Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear utility of Ukraine. Ukrainian Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, Swedish Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Åberg, Energoatom and Westinghouse leadership witnessed the fuel load into the reactor core at Rivne NPP.
Hopkins, South Carolina – August 25, 2023 - Westinghouse announced the creation of a center of excellence for Low Enriched Uranium Plus (LEU+) fuel manufacturing at its Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) in South Carolina.
Bratislava, SLOVAKIA – August 25, 2023 – Westinghouse Electric Company signed a long-term agreement with Slovenské elektrárne to license and supply VVER-440 fuel assemblies to its Nuclear Power Plants in Slovakia. The agreement supports Slovakia’s energy security and diversification of nuclear fuel. Approximately 59% of the electricity produced in Slovakia is generated by nuclear power plants.
