Westinghouse CFFF Emergency Response Team is Proud to Support our Neighbors in Times of Need

The Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) emergency response organization supports the site 24/7. Because our plant is in a relatively remote area, we have the capability to respond at any time to almost any emergency that could occur on-site. On occasion, we have the opportunity to help our neighbors.

“Friends of Congaree Swamp” Visited the Grounds of the Denley Cemetery

A group from the “Friends of Congaree Swamp” visited the grounds of the Denley Cemetery on the Westinghouse Columbia Site property. The Denley Cemetery is a historically black cemetery located on a bluff overlooking Upper Sunset Lake. Information about the cemetery is documented in a Cultural Resources Report the site commissioned in 2021/2022. The group was very appreciative for the opportunity to visit the cemetery, and several of the members shared what they knew of its history. Westinghouse maintains the cemetery as part of its commitment to preserving history and honoring the individuals buried there.

Westinghouse CFFF Sponsors the WLTX 19 Player of the Week

The Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) is the proud corporate sponsor for the WLTX 19 Player of the Week and was in attendance on May 15, 2024 at the end of the school year celebration to honor all of the student athletes throughout the year.

Gadsden Elementary School’s South Carolina Testing Pep Rally

The Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) was a sponsor for Gadsden Elementary School’s South Carolina Testing Pep Rally on May 15, 2024. Bikes were donated to children that scored high on testing and Westinghouse was proud to be a part of this great initiative.

Westinghouse Columbia Site Sponsors Lower Richland Sweet Potato Festival

The Westinghouse Columbia Site was a proud corporate sponsor of the Lower Richland Sweet Potato Festival. There were many Columbia Site employees and retirees in attendance, and they enjoyed music from local and national recording artists, a parade that showcased several car clubs, local high school bands, and public officials. They also indulged in some amazing cuisine including the famous “sweet potato ice cream”!

Westinghouse Columbia Site Participates in Midlands Annual Heart Walk

Employees from the Columbia Site were excited to participate in the Midlands Annual Heart Walk. The event was held at Segra Park and included several booths dedicated to educating the public on heart health. Westinghouse was represented in both the 1K and 5K routes and employees were proud to represent those family members and friends affected by heart disease.

Spring Soiree in celebration of World Wildlife Day

The South Carolina Wildlife Federation held its Spring Soiree in celebration of World Wildlife Day. Westinghouse was a proud sponsor of the event, along with other local corporations. The SC Wildlife Federation supports wildlife conservation, advocacy, restoration, and education programs.

Lake Marion Technology Center in their Innovation for the Next Generation Event

The Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility's (CFFF) division of Women In Nuclear (WIN) supported the Lake Marion Technology Center in their Innovation for the Next Generation Event. They shared valuable information with students about college, careers, and business opportunities. During the event, the Columbia site WIN representatives greeted a total of 746 students!

Proud Sponsor of IMARA Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Luncheon

The Columbia Site was a proud sponsor of the IMARA Foundation’s Annual Scholarship luncheon. Rita Kelly was the recipient of the Westinghouse sponsored scholarship, and is a sophomore at South Carolina State University, where she is majoring in civil engineering.

Proud Sponsor of VEX Robotics South Carolina State Championship

The Westinghouse Columbia Site was a proud sponsor of the VEX Robotics South Carolina State Championship, which was held on Saturday, February 24 at River Bluff High School in Lexington, SC. The competition promotes true STEM education and featured 32 middle school and 36 high school teams from all over the state of South Carolina. During the competition, teams were challenged with implementing new robot designs, game strategies, and programming to achieve the most possible points.
