WIN Chapter at Columbia Site Hosts Engineering Students from Benedict College

The Women in Nuclear chapter at the Columbia site was pleased to host engineering students from Benedict College . The students were highly engaged and asked insightful questions during discussions with Westinghouse employees. Opportunities like this allow us to highlight the impactful work we do in Columbia while inspiring the next generation of engineers and nuclear professionals.

Heart Walk Midlands

Westinghouse employees participated in the 2026 American Heart Association’s Midlands Heart Walk on Saturday, March 28 at Segra Park in Columbia, SC.  The walk drew over 2000 participants and honored those who are surviors and those whose lives were impacted by heart disease.

Westinghouse WIN-Columbia chapter members participated in a public outreach event to support Pi Day at EdVenture Children’s Museum at Columbia. The Pi Day is a kickoff  event to celebrate STEM Education Month (March 14-April 14). Edventure joins their partners from across the state, including those with the South Carolina Coalition for Mathematics and Science (SCCMS) and the regional S2TEM Centers. A presentation on “The Power of Atoms” was given explaining how nuclear power is generated. We also led the group with the activities of building a 3D atom and electroscope demonstration. There are also activities by other groups throughout the day to inspire visitors while engaging them in presentations and information.

Westinghouse WIN Columbia Camp Cole Bridge

The Westinghouse WIN Columbia Chapter sponsored Andy’s Eagle Scout project: a brand-new bridge for the nature trail at Camp Cole, not far from the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility.

Electric Hornets

Westinghouse was proud to sponsor the Electric Hornets, Lower Richland High School’s robotics team, as they competed in FIRST Robotics competitions in Charleston, SC and Hopkins just minutes from our Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility.  These students showcased incredible talent, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while competing against teams from across the country. 

Heart Ball Midlands

Westinghouse was proud to serve as a sponsor for the 2026 American Heart Association’s Midlands Heart Ball , the largest annual fundraising event for the Midlands Chapter of the American Heart Association-South Carolina, held February 20 at the University of South Carolina Alumni Center.  Several members of our Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility team joined community leaders and supporters for an inspiring evening dedicated to driving change, funding lifesaving science, and improving health outcomes for families across the Midlands and beyond.

Women in Nuclear Benedict College Fair

Westinghouse Women In Nuclear (WIN) group participated in the Benedict College Career Fair. We engaged with many students representing a wide range of academic interests. The students were not only eager to learn more about Westinghouse, but many also requested resume reviews to better prepare for their futures. They were enthusiastic, curious, and genuinely excited to explore potential job opportunities and learn more about our plant.

Hopkins Elementary Career Fair

Westinghouse participated in Hopkins Elementary School’s Annual Career Fair.  Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) Emergency Response Team members, along with managers and other employees were in attendance to share information about careers at Westinghouse.  Also, some of the children of CFFF employees were proud students who attended the event!

Richland One Hall of Fame

Westinghouse was proud to serve as a Platinum Sponsor of the 2026 Richland One Hall of Fame Gala on January 10 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.  The evening celebrated graduates and community leaders whose achievements have made a lasting impact on Richland County School District One and our local community.  As a long time partner of Richland One, Westinghouse is honored to support an event that recognizes leadership and the power of education.

Westinghouse Emergency Response Team Visits Gadsden and Hill Elementary Schools

The Westinghouse Emergency Response Team visited Gadsden Elementary School and Horrell Hill Elementary School to share some life saving tips with the students on fire prevention and safety. The students learned important techniques about what they should and should not do in the event of a fire and how to stay safe during these types of situations.
