First-Ever Installation Provides Utilities with Operational Savings and Efficiencies

Cranberry Township, PA, January 27, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company has signed an agreement with Southern Nuclear Operating Company to load four Lead Test Assemblies (LTAs) with next-generation fuel features into Georgia Power’s Plant Vogtle Unit 2 in Waynesboro, GA. The installation is the first in Westinghouse’s High Energy Fuel initiative.

Warsaw, Poland (January 21, 2022) - Westinghouse Electric Company signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with ten companies in Poland. The MOUs, signed in both Gdańsk and the Westinghouse office in Warsaw, cover cooperation on the potential deployment of six AP1000® plants for the Polish Nuclear Power Plant program and other potential AP1000® reactor projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

Prague, Czech Republic, January 13, 2022 – Westinghouse Electric Company signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with seven companies in the Czech Republic. The MOUs signed at the Ministry of Industry and Trade cover cooperation on the potential deployment of an AP1000® plant for the Dukovany 5 project as well as other potential AP1000 projects in Central Europe.

Cranberry Township, PA, December 15, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced it has recently completed dismantling the first of two reactor vessels at Bohunice V1 Nuclear Power Plant in Slovakia. The annular water tanks that ensured bio-shield protection of the two reactor pressure vessels have also been dismantled.

Cranberry Township, PA, December 14, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced that it has filed a pre-application Regulatory Engagement Plan for the company’s eVinci™ micro reactor, detailing the planned pre-licensing application interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The plan is aligned with NRC’s whitepaper on micro reactor licensing.

Cranberry Township, PA, December 13, 2021 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced that Paul Longsworth has been appointed president of Westinghouse Government Services (WGS). Longsworth joined WGS in June 2021, bringing more than 35 years of experience in nuclear energy, national security and environmental industries. Previously, he served as Vice President, Secure Services at Flour, and was the Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation at the U.S. Department of Energy. He takes over the business following the retirement of Bob Cochran.

Cranberry Township, PA, December 10, 2021 - Westinghouse Electric Company announced it has signed a contract with RWE Nuclear GmbH to dismantle two reactors in the Gundremmingen nuclear facility in Germany.

Cranberry Township, PA, December 6, 2021 -Westinghouse Electric Company received approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for its PARAGON2^TM fuel energy transport code. PARAGON2 is a key component in the company’s High Energy Fuel initiative which provides the technologies and hardware utility customers need to optimize their fuel capabilities.
