Westinghouse-led Consortium Achieves Milestone in Diversification of Fuel Supply for Russian-designed Reactors in Europe

VÄSTERÅS, SWEDEN - May 30, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company and its eight European consortium partners have achieved a key milestone in the diversification of the nuclear fuel supply in Europe. The consortium has approved the conceptual fuel design for the VVER-440 assemblies, which is an enhanced version of a previous Westinghouse fuel product that was delivered to Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant in Finland from 2001-2007.

Westinghouse Issues Lockout Notice to Boilermakers

NEWINGTON, N.H. - May 21, 2017 – Today, Westinghouse Electric Company announced that it has issued a lockout notice to 172 employees as a result of a stalemate in negotiations between the company and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shipbuilders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers (the Boilermakers) at the Nuclear Components Manufacturing (NCM) facility in Newington, New Hampshire. The lockout takes effect May 21, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Westinghouse will continue to operate the facility with non-represented Westinghouse employees and utilize alternate Westinghouse locations to meet customer commitments.

Westinghouse Engineers Receive NAYGN Excellence Awards

Congratulations to Westinghouse’s Matt Estby and Kelley Harrington for recently being named North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) Excellence Award winners. Matt and Kelley were two of a small number of people or projects recognized by this national organization for their efforts during the fourth quarter of 2016.

Westinghouse Presents Inaugural Quest for Zero Safety Award to Springfields

Preston, U.K., April 27, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that its Westinghouse Springfields site was named the recipient of the company’s inaugural Quest for Zero award. The company’s Quest for Zero safety initiative was introduced in August 2016 to challenge all Westinghouse locations and employees to implement proactive safety activities and reinforce proper safety behaviors.

Westinghouse Achieves U.K. Regulatory Confirmation of AP1000® Plant Design

Manchester, U.K., March 30, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that its AP1000® nuclear power plant design has successfully completed review by regulators in the United Kingdom, who concluded their Generic Design Assessment (GDA) by issuing Design Acceptance Confirmation (DAC) and Statement of Design Acceptability (SoDA) for the Westinghouse technology. The DAC and SoDA were issued by the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency (EA), respectively.

Westinghouse Announces Strategic Restructuring

Cranberry Township, Pa., March 29, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC, a U.S. company, and certain of its subsidiaries and affiliates, today filed voluntary petitions under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The Company is seeking to undertake a strategic restructuring as a result of certain financial and construction challenges in its U.S. AP1000® power plant projects. Westinghouse has obtained $800 million in debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing from a third-party lender to help fund and protect its core businesses during its reorganization. The Chapter 11 filings took place in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York in New York City.

Westinghouse Announces Executive Management Changes

March 17, 2017 – Westinghouse Electric Company today announced a series of executive appointments designed to further align the organization with its operational transformation and provide enhanced customer delivery. Mark Marano has been appointed chief operating officer, with David Howell succeeding Marano as president, Americas Region. Luc Van Hulle will serve as interim president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region. Additionally, David Durham has been named senior vice president of New Projects Business (NPB). Each change is effective as of March 15.
