MIAMI, May 24, 2016 – Today, the Arizona Public Service Company’s Palo Verde Generating Station in Wintersburg, Ariz., was honored with a Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) Top Innovative Practice (TIP) award for enhancing plant performance. The Westinghouse Combustion Engineering Vendor Award went to Palo Verde for successfully piloting commercial application of the Westinghouse Zephyr® Advanced Acquisition System.

Westinghouse Contracts With Finland’s TVO to Deliver New Reactor Components

VÄSTERÅS, Sweden, May 17, 2016 - Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has signed a contract with Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) in Finland to deliver new feedwater spargers to the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) Units 1 and 2.

Westinghouse Improves AP1000® RCP Installation Delivery Certainty by 37%

Beijing, May 5, 2016 – Westinghouse Electric Company, Sanmen Nuclear Power Company, Shandong Nuclear Power Company, State Nuclear Power Engineering Company and China Nuclear Industry Fifth Construction Company have together installed eight reactor coolant pumps (RCPs) at the world’s first AP1000 nuclear power plant units under construction in China. The complex process was improved by 11 days thanks to the return on experience gained from the first RCP installation at Sanmen Unit 1 in Zhejiang Province to the final RCP at Haiyang Unit 1 in Shandong Province.

Fylde MP Supports Westinghouse on UK SMR Offering

SPRINGFIELDS, England, April. 28, 2016 – Westinghouse Electric Company today engaged its U.K. stakeholders on the company’s Small Modular Reactor (SMR) offering to the U.K. Government, along with the findings of the recent Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) advanced manufacturing study. The company hosted the independently chaired Springfields Site Stakeholder Group (SSG) at the company’s Springfields site. The stakeholder group consists of council members, regulators, local interest groups’ representatives and local residents and is an important partner to Westinghouse.

Westinghouse Expands VVER Fuel Capacity to Meet Growing Demand for Diversification in Europe

VÄSTERÅS, Sweden, April 28, 2016 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced the expansion of its Nuclear Fuel Factory, situated in Västerås, Sweden, in response to growing demand for nuclear fuel supply diversification for VVER-1000 reactors in Europe. The investment finances additional production facilities, fuel engineering work, as well as the procurement of additional process and assembly equipment for manufacturing the fuel. The new facilities were officially inaugurated by José Emeterio Gutiérrez, Westinghouse senior vice president for Nuclear Fuel and Components Manufacturing today in the presence of representatives from the Västerås Municipality, local business community and the Ukrainian Embassy to the Kingdom of Sweden.
