Westinghouse’s Spirit of Innovation Recognized at Patent Award Lunch

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 31, 2016 – Today in 1865, George Westinghouse received his first patent for the rotary steam engine, beginning a tradition for innovation, growth and success at Westinghouse Electric Company. Recently, 129 U.S.-based employees were recognized for their participation in the U.S. patent process during the past year. This included the issuing of 32 U.S. patents, 42 applications for U.S. patents and 51 inventors who submitted disclosures in FY 2015. These individuals were congratulated at the 2016 Westinghouse Patent Award Lunch for their achievements and contributions to the nuclear industry as they continue to foster George Westinghouse’s spirit of innovation.

Westinghouse’s WeLink™ Business Accelerator to Advance Nuclear Innovation

Brussels, Belgium, October 27, 2016 - Westinghouse Electric Company announced today that it has created a new way for innovators to advance nuclear energy technology through collaboration with Westinghouse and its global network of leading technical experts. The initiative, named WeLink, will provide funding support, office space and technical tools for individuals and teams to develop promising concepts that can accelerate innovation across the industry.

SPRINGFIELDS, England, October 21, 2016 – Westinghouse Electric Company Springfields held its annual Skills Awards Day to recognise young engineers and employees who have either earned their apprenticeship or achieved academic success in higher education qualifications during the past year. The event took place at the Springfields nuclear licenced site, near Preston.

Westinghouse Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility Receives Us NRC Restart Authorization

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 20, 2016 – Westinghouse Electric Company announced that it received authorization today from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to restart the Conversion Area operations of the Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (Columbia, South Carolina) after the area was shut down in July due to safety concerns over a ventilation scrubber.
