Westinghouse was proud to be a sponsor, providing scholarships for the Hopkins High School Alumni Foundation. The annual event was held at St. John Baptist Church in Hopkins, SC, awarding scholarships to students with STEM majors. 

Westinghouse Columbia Sponsors 36th Lower Richland Senior Citizens Healthcare & Fun Day Luncheon

Westinghouse participated as a corporate sponsor for the 36th Lower Richland Senior Citizens Healthcare & Fun Day Luncheon held at Seawells in Columbia, SC.  Attendees from the Lower Richland Community participated in fun events and received giveaways from Westinghouse in addition to healthcare and senior safety information. There were also several Westinghouse retirees in attendance who were eager to show their Westinghouse pride.

Westinghouse Partners with Richland County EMS to Host Training Video Series

Westinghouse partnered with the Richland County EMS to host a series of training videos at their facility.  The training videos, filmed on-site at Westinghouse in Hopkins, signals a collaboration that focuses on producing high-quality instructional content aimed at improving skills and knowledge among emergency medical personnel.  

Westinghouse participates in the South Carolina Virtual Charter School’s (SCVCS) Back to School Bash

Westinghouse participated in the South Carolina Virtual Charter School’s (SCVCS) Back to School Bash. The successful event featured several businesses from South Carolina that provided information about their organizations and hand-on activities for the teachers, students, and their parents. Virtual students and their families were able to learn about Westinghouse and the significant impact of nuclear energy.

Westinghouse Participates in Lower Richland Community's National Night Out Celebrations

Westinghouse was honored to participate as a sponsor for the Lower Richland Community’s National Night Out Celebrations for Hopkins and Gadsden.  Students from the area were excited to share in fun activities and receive school supplies to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

Westinghouse Participates in College and Career Awareness Experience

Westinghouse participated in the College and Career Awareness Experience, which was hosted by Envisioning your Purpose, LLC at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road.  Students from the Lower Richland area learned about Westinghouse and the educational paths needed to pursue STEM careers. Several of the students and parents inquired about current employment opportunities as well as future careers within the Westinghouse organization.  

Westinghouse sponsors the Koinonia Foundation’s STEM Camp

Students from the Lower Richland Community attended the camp, which was held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, in Hopkins, SC. The program promoted activities that were designed to enhance the knowledge of local students in science and technology.

Westinghouse Sponsors Lower Richland Juneteenth Festival

Westinghouse was a corporate sponsor for the Lower Richland Juneteenth Festival, which was hosted by SERCO (South East Rural Community Outreach). The festival was held at the historic Harriet Barber House & Grounds in Hopkins, SC and drew residents from near and far to enjoy African drummers and other cultural performers, exhibits,  storytelling, music, and local vendors.

Westinghouse Visits Antioch AME Zion Church Summer Enrichment Academy

Westinghouse was excited to be a part of the Antioch AME Zion Church Summer Enrichment Academy in Eastover, SC. A sincere thank you to CFFF engineers Brittany Badger, Haley Balcom, and Victor Singleton who shared information with the children about careers in engineering and participated in hands-on activities, building bridges and towers.

Westinghouse Sponsors South Carolina's PMECS Camp

Westinghouse was a corporate sponsor for the University of South Carolina’s College of Engineering Partners for Mentoring in Engineering and Computer Science Camp (PMECS).  PMECS addresses minority representation in STEM be increasing STEM interest, raising career awareness, improving college preparation, and inspiring academic excellence. Westinghouse engineers provided information to the students about careers in engineering as well as interview etiquette.
